I know I’m lazy. If someone feeds me, I’ll probably won’t say no. I haven’t found a robot that could feed me yet, but my other favourite food is knowledge, and the technology that feeds me knowledge exists, now. Enter the concept of RSS.

You can google around to find out what is RSS, but sometimes, a picture does say it better. That might explain why I have a hard time convincing people about it.

For reading, I have been using Google Reader to feed me things that I choose to read, rather than things other people choose for me. I could go to Google Reader directly to get my feeds, but I rely on Reeder now. I fire up Reeder before breakfast, and it sits beside me while I have my breakfast. I don’t do newspapers anymore. This is my “newspapers”.

For podcasts, I have been subscribing through iTunes to get it fed to me. Instead of the tango between my MacBook and my iPhone, I have recently removed the MacBook from the feeding equation and rely on a nifty little tool called Instacast on my iPhone. Now, it feeds directly to my iPhone.

I do hope you give RSS a try. It saves you from going to the content, and let the content come to you. I just need to prepare my breakfast fast enough before all the news come gushing into my reader. If I’m lucky, I might even get a free serving of food and news, all on the same table. :D
